Florida's general election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. If you plan to vote by mail, check whether you have a current request. Florida says a vote-by-mail request covers elections through the end of the calendar year of the next regularly scheduled general election, after which it must be renewed.
October 5: voter-registration deadline. October 22 at 5 p.m.: deadline to request that a ballot be mailed. November 3 at 7 p.m.: the completed ballot must be received by the Supervisor of Elections; a postmark alone is not enough.
Check your status first
- Confirm your voter registration with your county Supervisor of Elections.
- Check whether a current vote-by-mail request is on file.
- If needed, submit a new request through an official county channel. Florida's statewide written request form is DS-DE 160.
- Verify the mailing address before submitting the request.
When the ballot arrives
Follow the envelope instructions, sign where required and return it early. Florida also allows approved in-person return methods and secure ballot intake stations at locations and times published by county election officials.
Requesting a vote-by-mail ballot does not require you to use it. If you later vote in person, election officials will verify whether your mailed ballot has already been received.
